Health Camp 2025 Free Health Check-Up Camp 2025 RIPTAA, in association with Medical Service Centre, West Bengal, organized a Free Health Check-Up Camp for press workers on 26th April at Deys Offset & Sristi Graphics, Tangra, Kolkata. Cardiologist, ENT, Medicine, General physician and Ophthalmologist assisted by nurses and technicians conducted Eye Check-up, Cardiac Check-up with ECG, Blood Sugar Test, and BP Check and general health consultancy. More than 120 employees working there availed of this opportunity. The venue was made available by & General infrastructure support for the event was provided by Mr. Swapan Dey of Dey’s Offset and Madam Sristi Dey of Sristi Graphics. Free Distribution of Educational KitsThe Health Check-up Camp was followed by Free Distribution of Educational Kits amongst 100 underprivileged children of the area around on 26th April. RIPTAA acknowledges with gratitude the contribution of all sponsors, advertisers and donors. We hope to receive the same in future also. Through our social activities throughout the year, we were able to convince the concerned Authorities to extend us the status of ‘Benevolent Institution’, a rare privilege. Printers Day 2025 Printers’ Day 2025 Celebration by RIPTAA The Regional Institute of Printing Technology Alumni Association (RIPTAA) celebrated the Printers’ Day on the occasion of birthday of Johannes Gutenberg, who designed and built the first known mechanised printing press in Europe in 1455, on 24th February, 2025 at Vivekananda Hall, Jadavpur University Campus. A Technical Seminar on ‘Packaging – Past, Present and Future’ was organized. Dr. Nilay Kanti Pramanik, Dy. Director, Indian Institute of Packaging, Kolkata was the Guest Speaker. He mesmerized the audience with his lucid presentation. He touched upon different modes of Packaging – primary, secondary and tertiary; rigid and flexible packaging; raw materials used – paper & board, glass, metal, plastic, composite, ceramic, wood etc; how are PET bottles manufactured; how are pouches made and many other aspects. The packed auditorium included RIPT students, their teachers and quite a few RIPTAA members. Mr. Diptendu Chowdhury, Ex-Principal RIPT, Mr. Surendra B. PrintPack 2025 RIPTAA at PrintPack 2025 The 16th edition of PRINTPACK INDIA, was held from 1 – 5 Feb 2025, at India Expo Centre, Greater Noida, NCR Delhi. This PrintPack India saw 17 Halls covering 80,000 sq meter exhibition space, hosted over 600 exhibitors representing 84 countries from around the world, presenting state-of-the-art printing and packaging technology with a special emphasis on cost-efficiency and import substitution. Building on previous successes, the 2025 edition attracted a massive 1,41,101 visitors. The Indian Printing, Packaging, and Allied Machinery Manufacturers’ Association (IPAMA) has gone to great lengths to accommodate this unprecedented interest, including the reservation of two additional Hangars, to accommodate companies on the waiting list. Buses ran frequently from Noida Botanical Garden Metro station to the venue, ensuring convenient transportation for visitors. Additionally, IPAMA organised a series of seminars to engage the attendees as part of PRINTPACK India 2025. Organized by the Association for PRINT Technologies in collaboration with IPAMA, Delhi Printers Association (DPA), and WhatTheyThink.com, these seminars featured cutting-edge discussions on topics, such as, ‘The Current State of the Corrugated Packaging Market and Future Projections’, ‘Data Management for Print and Packaging’, ‘AI and the New Age of Creative Collaboration’, ‘Branding and Beyond’, ‘Exploring the Future of Digital Printing’, ‘Moulded Fiber Packaging’, ‘Packaging in the E-Commerce Era’, ‘Reducing Environmental Impact’ and ‘Sustainable Innovation in Printing and Packaging’. National and international companies were present. For the visiting RIPTAA members, our stall was a meeting place for exchange of experience about this mega fair, their work experience in different fields of printing throughout India, their current positions in company and the help they can extend for RIPT pass-outs. The response was noteworthy as numerous enquiries are now received and students of RIPT are getting placements. A group of five final year students of RIPT, Kolkata visited PrintPack 2025. Their expenses for visiting this mega event was partially sponsored by RIPTAA as part of its ‘Student Exposure’ commitment. They visited RIPTAA stall during their stay and tried to cover most of the halls containing hundreds of exhibits. Mr Biswaranjan Nayak 1990 of Printtech Offset Bhubaneswar republished the winter issue 2024 and Mr. Sanjay Surekha of Vanshika Graphics formally inaugurated the new spring issue 2025 of PrintOut, the quarterly mouth piece of RIPTAA in front of numerous visiting publics and dignitaries. Both the issues were widely distributed among all the visitors to RIPTAA stall as well as among the other important exhibitors and visitors at PrintPack 2025. Team RIPTAA visited hundreds of exhibitors during the five exhibition days at Print Pack 2025, like Technova, Konica Minolta, Fuji, Xerox, Canon, The Printers House, Toyo Ink Arets, UV Graphic Technologies, Vinsak, Zenith Rubber, Alpna Visual Packaging Aids, APL Machinery, Avery Dennison, BOBST, DGM Automation, Electromech Machinery, Epson, Print week, Heidelberg, Komori, Impel Services, Jay Engineering, Kodak, Pratham Technologies, Printers Club of India, Printers Supply, Provin Technos, HP Redington, Ronald Web Offset, Suba Solutions, Kwality Chemical, Mega bound, Minosha, Monotech, NBG Printographics, Nulith,to increase fellowship as well as to establish its presence. Prospective advertisers were contacted. New connections were made with interested companies for association with RIPTAA activities & programmes. Old bonds with friendly companies were rekindled to make sure that their support continues in future. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to IPAMA for providing us with all logistic support with the free stall area of 12 sq. meter at PrintPack 2025. Hopefully, we shall be present in PrintPack 17 in January 2027. All in all, the visit of team RIPTAA to PrintPack 2025 is expected pay good dividends in near future. Summit 2024 Report of the 36th Annual Summit and AGM of Regional Institute of Printing Technology The beautiful serene setting of the Tulip at P C Garden Kolkata was the venue of the 36th Annual Summit and AGM of Regional Institute of Printing Technology Alumni Association (RIPTAA) on 15 August 2024. As per tradition, the National Flag was hoisted by the President of RIPTAA with due solemness in the presence of the RIPTAA members at 9:30 am. After engaging in fellowship over morning refreshment and registration, the inaugural programme commenced at 10:30 am in main seminar hall. Shri Surendra B Dhote, President RIPTAA welcomed Shri Raghabendra N. Dutta Baruah, President, All India Federation of Master Printers along with the 400 odd members and guests present. He briefed them about the prevalent scenario of printing and multimedia in his inaugural address. Important Guests and Dignitaries were felicitated by the President RIPTAA, Vice-President Shri Hillol Sinha and Shri Apratim Mukerji, General Secretary RIPTAA. The Key-note speech of the RIPTAA Summit 2024 was given by Shri Raghabendra N. Dutta Baruah, President, AIFMP. He dwelt in length about the pan India scenario of Printing Industry and expressed a lot of hope for the future of the Printing, Multimedia and Packaging industry. Mr Sanjib Mondal, Deputy General Manager – Sales, TechNova Imaging Systems Pvt Ltd. conducted an interactive technical seminar on ‘Growth in Printing’. Through a power point presentation, he illustrated how the sectors like ‘Digital printing’ combining with ‘Packaging’ is outpacing the traditional ‘offset printing’. Another speaker, Mr. Mohidul Haque, Jt. MD of Diamond Art Press Pvt. Ltd., one of the leading exponents of short run offset printing of Eastern India, lamented about the lack of unity among the offset printers leading to cut throat competition. Mr. Swarnangka Samaddar, an alumnus and a former senior official of TechNova and presently a consultant, shared the ups and down of his career with his fellow RIPTAA members. Three RIPT students, who ranked first in their streams during 2023-24, were awarded scholarships. Two RIPTAA alumni members opted for life membership in 2023-24. They were felicitated. Last but not the least, the first session saw the entire alumni paying their heartfelt homage to the six RIPTAA members who left us for their heavenly abode in 2023-24. The general session ended with Shri Apratim Mukerji paying heavy tributes to the printing and packaging industry for coming forward and making this Summit 2024 a great success. He thanked the dignitaries and members for attending the programme. He further requested all RIPTAAns to come forward and take more active part in taking Association forward in the coming years for the benefit of members, specially, the new pass outs. The second session was a closed door one, with Shri Apratim Mukherji informing the members in details about the various technical and social activities carried out in 2023-24 in his secretary’s report. The members lauded the rare distinction that RIPTAA achieved from the Income tax department. All donations to RIPTAA will henceforth will be eligible for tax relief under section 80G of IT Act. A rare achievement indeed. With the compliance of the other essential activities of the AGM, the day ended with election of the new Executive Body for the session 2024-26 with Shri Surenendra B. Dhote being elected as the president for yet another term. Printers Day 2024 Technical Seminar 2024 on “Offset Packaging” The Regional Institute of Printing Technology Alumni Association (RIPTAA) organized a Technical Seminar at RIPT on “Offset Packaging” on 24th March, 2018. The main speaker in the seminar was Mr. Manoj Kumar Kochar, GM – Sales & Marketing, Suba Solutions Pvt. Ltd. Present in the seminar were the students, faculty members and the respected Principal of RIPT along with a few alumni members. RIPTAA President, Mr. Suren Dhote, introduced the speaker to the audience. The information rich presentation by Mr. Kochar was well received by the students and went a long way in expanding their knowledge in this flourishing technology.
