Annual Summit 2025 of RIPTAA

The 37th Annual Get-together of The Regional Institute of Printing Technology Alumni Association (RIPTAA) was a grand success, with over 400 alumni members participating at The Tulip, P.C. Chandra Garden, Kolkata on August 15, 2025.

Technical Session Highlights

– Mr. Satish Malhotra, President, AIFMP, delivered a keynote speech

– Video presentations by Hubergroup and Konica Minolta

– Technical Seminar on ‘Sustainable Innovation: How HP Indigo is Redefining the Future of Print’ by Mr. Nishant Kaushik, Sr. Manager, Regional Sales (North & East) TechNova Imaging Systems Pvt. Ltd.

– Panel Discussion on ‘Problems of printing industry’ featuring Mr. Satish Malhotra, Mr. Nishant Kaushik, Mr. Sunil Jadli, Corporate Communication Asia, Hubergroup, Mr. Gautam Dasgupta, Former Principal, Regional Institute of Printing Technology and Snehasish Chandra Roy, Ex-Director (Production), The Times of India.

Annual General Meeting

The post-lunch session was dedicated to the Annual General Meeting of RIPTAA, where members gathered to discuss important matters.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by General Secretary RIPTAA, Mr. Apratim Mukerji, expressing gratitude to President RIPTAA Mr. Surendra B, Dhote, dignitaries, sponsors, advertisers, and participating members.

At 10.00 AM Mr. Surendra B. Dhote, President, RIPTAA hoisted the National Flag at the venue.

The Summit was divided in two parts – first Half was earmarked for Technical Session and second half for Annual General Meeting of RIPTAA.

At the beginning, Mr. Apratim Mukerji, General Secretary, RIPTAA welcomed the alumni members and dignitaries to Annual Summit 25. He opined that prime objective of RIPTAA is welfare of RIPTAA members as well as up gradation of standard of RIPT, Jadavpur students and in this direction; RIPT students were sponsored to visit PAMEX 24 and PRINTPACK INDIA 25.

Mr. Apratim Mukerji requested Mr. Surendra B. Dhote, President, RIPTAA to inaugurate the RIPTAA Summit ’25.

In his inaugural address, Mr. Surendra B. Dhote welcomed, RIPT faculty members, ex-teachers, students, alumni members and guests to this Annual Summit25. In his deliberation, he particularly stressed on threat and opportunities the printing industry would face in coming days due to use of AI. He urged everybody not to be pessimistic. Rather optimistic – use of AI would enhance the quality and productivity. Only one thing we have to do is to understand the AI properly.

Mr. Surendra B. Dhote, after his inaugural speech, requested Chief Guest, Mr. Satish Malhotra, President, AIFMP to deliver his keynote speech. In his key note address President, AIFMP thanked RIPTAA for inviting him to this Summit. He was thrilled to see so many qualified Printing Technologists assembled at one place who hold decision making positions in Govt. and private organization. President, AIFMP assured that we should not apprehend about future of printing industry. For long run offset would stay, digital printing is improving with new technologies and packaging is the sunshine area. He also assured that AIFMP would always be by the side of the printers at the time of need. Mr. Satish Malhotra was felicitated by Mr. Snehasish Roy, alumni member and ex-Director Production, The Times of India Group.

Next programme was Video Presentation by Hubergroup. After the Video, Mr. Sunil Jadli, Corporate Communication, Asia of Hubergroup was felicitated.

Next Speaker was Mr. Nishant Kaushik, Sr. Manager, Regional Sales (North & East) TechNova Imaging Systems Pvt. Ltd. on topic “Sustainable Innovation: How HP Indigo is Redefining the Future of Print”. His power Point presentation was very attractive. Alumni members actively participated in question answer part where Mr. Nishant Kaushik answered the queries of the participants. Most interesting part was Mr. Kaushik questioned the audiences and right answer from the participants were given gifts.

After the speech of Mr. Nishant Kaushik, Video Presentation of Konica Milonta was shown.

Next programme was very interesting. A panel discussion was held on problems the printing industry now facing where our guests Mr. Satish Malhotra, President, AIFMP, Mr. Sunil Jadli, Corporate Communication Asia, Hubergroup, Mr. Nishant Kaushik, Sr. Manager, Regional Sales (North & East), TechNova, Mr. Gautam Dasgupta, Former Principal, Regional Institute of Printing Technology, Mr. Snehasish Roy, Alumni & Ex-Director (Production), The Times of India Group participated. Mr. Surendra B. Dhote, President, RIPTAA, was the Moderator. All the Panel Member actively participated in the question answer session. Alumni members enjoyed the discussion.

After end of Panel Discussion, first half was ended and after Lunch, AGM part of RIPTAA started. After a brief cultural programme, three cheques  of Rs. 5,000/- each were given to three topper final year students of Printing Technology, Multimedia and Photography Departments of RIPT, Jadavpur as recommended by RIPT, Jadavpur. Next part was report of Mr. Apratim Mukerji, General Secretary, followed by Auditors report presented by Mr. Tapash Kumar Roy, Treasurer.

Day’s programme was ended with National Anthem.

RIPT being a regional college, RIPTAA comprises of Alumni from all states in the East and North East, who are spread across the country and even abroad. At present there are about 500 odd active members who attend our programmes regularly and another about 2000 floating members. They hold responsible positions in photography, printing, packaging, ink, paper, newspaper & multimedia companies and contribute to the development of the country.

The working of the Alumni association is governed by its constitution which mandates an Executive Body, consisting of sixteen working members, elected for two years. The election is held in the AGM held every year on 15 th August in Kolkata. The members of the EB and it’s President is elected from the regular members of RIPTAA. They conduct all the activities of RIPTAA throughout the two-year period along with publishing a quarterly mouthpiece ‘PrintOut’. It is a technical journal brought out highlighting technological updates, industry news, achievement, products of important brands and briefings of RIPTAA activities. All the activities of RIPTAA are well publicized through its Facebook Account, WhatsApp and website.

The executive body of RIPTAA comprises of the President, Vice President, the Secretary, Asst. Secretary, the Treasurer and 11 other members. Additionally, a member can also be co-opted if situation demands. For 2023-24 and 2024-25, the office bearers are Mr. Surendra B Dhote, President; Mr. Hillol Sinha, Vice-President; Mr. Apratim Mukherji, Secretary, Mr. Biplab Ghosh, Asst. Secretary and Mr. Tapas Roy, Treasurer. These official of RIPTAA along with other EB members constantly meet on regular basis at the present official address at Bharat Lithographing Company, Kolkata.

RIPTAA is also invited to mega printing and allied exhibitions held in various parts of the country. Some recent participations were in PAMEX at Mumbai, SCREENTEX India at Kolkata, Eastern PrintPack at Kolkata and PrintPack India at Noida. These involvements have made RIPTAA a household name among the forerunners in the industry and helped pursue the cause of its members. Visit of student groups from RIPT in these fares are also sponsored by RIPTAA to help them understand the latest trend in Printing and allied industry.

Last, but not the least, we are glad to announce that various benevolent activities of RIPTAA have been recognized by Government agencies and any donations made by any organization willing to support the activities of RIPTAA will henceforth attract tax exemption.

The Regional Institute of Printing Technology Alumni Association was formed in the year 1986. Since then every student who graduates from this esteemed institution becomes an associate member of the association.
