










RIPTAA in PAMEX 2023
PAMEX 2023 was organized by All India Federation of Master Printers (AIFMP), in Association with Print-Packaging.com at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon, Mumbai from 27 to 30 March 2023. RIPTAA, like previous years, was allotted a stall and made its presence felt with extensive interaction with the famous brands from printing industry who displayed their products, with pan India visitors and with the fellow RIPTAANS who flocked in large numbers to PAMEX 2023 from all parts of the country. Various issues of PrintOuts, the mouth piece of RIPTAA, were displayed in the RIPTAA stall and handed over to the interested visitors. The spring issue of PrintOut 2023 was published during PAMEX 2023 at the RIPTAA stall by Shri Swapan Sahoo of Loknath Printers on whom the issue was focussed.
After a grave pandemic situation, PAMEX 2023 reflected revival and resurrection of the printing industry in India. The exhibition was a huge one with 450+ Exhibitors with 250+ Live Machine Demo. 100+ Product Launches took place. Buying and selling of products were crisp. Application of AI was omnipresent. Digital Printing sector showed reasonable growth. Representation from Packaging Industry was striking. Innovation and new technologies were show cased in all areas including offset, digital and prepress. In short, it was an ideal experience for press owners to see the future in Print Industry and gear up for upgradation, automation, and diversification,
RIPTAA stall was visited by important exhibitors. RIPTAA Secretary, his colleagues visited some of them to build a healthy relation. Mention may be made of Alpana Visual Packaging Aids, Ample Graphics, Autoprint Machinery, Bobst India, Canon, DGM, Electromec, Fujifilm, HP, Impel Services, Komori India, Konika Minolta Business, Monotech Systems, Pratham Technologies, Ronald Web Offset, Suba Solutions, TechNova, The Printers House, UV Graphics Technologies and Zhongke India. Of course, many of them were old acquittances of RIPTAA and it was a pleasure to meet all them at PAMEX 2023.
While reacting to RIPTAA’s query “What’s new in PAMEX 2023?” some entrepreneurs explained their innovative products. Mr. Amitava Luthra, Director, Printers Supply projected a cost effective ‘Complete Cartoon Printing machine’ which can print, do spot UV lamination, die cut etc. in a single pass with minimum wastage and manpower. Madam Pooja Rajpal of Zhongke India explained their greener and sustainable parameters introduced in packaging techniques. Mr. Partha Bani Sinha, RM (West), Cannon India demonstrated their new all substrate compatable, high speed, user friendly digital machine. Mr. Venugopal Menon, Business Director, Indian Sub-continent, BOBST explained their ‘Novafold Packaging Machine’, introduced only in 2022, which is capable of performing complex packaging task. Mr. Abhay Datta, proprietor of UV Graphic Technologies Pvt. Ltd reiterated that customers come here not only to buy but see for themselves the latest technologies that are on display. Mr. Rajeev Jagga of Ample Graphics spoke about their new machine which laminates and then delaminates by removing the plastic film from the product, to make it environment friendly, but maintaining the gloss at the same time. Konica Minolta displayed their latest 3600 UV digital imposing machine which comes with AS scanner-based 3D registration with zero possibility of mismatch. It was a pleasure talking to each of them.
Participation in PAMEX 2023 was a highly fruitful one for RIPTAA for several reasons. It established the visibility of RIPTAA in this mega event, reached out to industry for the benefit of the members and getting commitments of the stalwarts of the industry to be part of RIPTAA activity.
Last but not the least, RIPTAA is grateful to AIFMP for providing free stall area, facilitating participation, and acknowledging RIPTAA an important associate.
RIPT being a regional college, RIPTAA comprises of Alumni from all states in the East and North East, who are spread across the country and even abroad. At present there are about 500 odd active members who attend our programmes regularly and another about 2000 floating members. They hold responsible positions in photography, printing, packaging, ink, paper, newspaper & multimedia companies and contribute to the development of the country.
The working of the Alumni association is governed by its constitution which mandates an Executive Body, consisting of sixteen working members, elected for two years. The election is held in the AGM held every year on 15 th August in Kolkata. The members of the EB and it’s President is elected from the regular members of RIPTAA. They conduct all the activities of RIPTAA throughout the two-year period along with publishing a quarterly mouthpiece ‘PrintOut’. It is a technical journal brought out highlighting technological updates, industry news, achievement, products of important brands and briefings of RIPTAA activities. All the activities of RIPTAA are well publicized through its Facebook Account, WhatsApp and website.
The executive body of RIPTAA comprises of the President, Vice President, the Secretary, Asst. Secretary, the Treasurer and 11 other members. Additionally, a member can also be co-opted if situation demands. For 2023-24 and 2024-25, the office bearers are Mr. Surendra B Dhote, President; Mr. Hillol Sinha, Vice-President; Mr. Apratim Mukherji, Secretary, Mr. Biplab Ghosh, Asst. Secretary and Mr. Tapas Roy, Treasurer. These official of RIPTAA along with other EB members constantly meet on regular basis at the present official address at Bharat Lithographing Company, Kolkata.
RIPTAA is also invited to mega printing and allied exhibitions held in various parts of the country. Some recent participations were in PAMEX at Mumbai, SCREENTEX India at Kolkata, Eastern PrintPack at Kolkata and PrintPack India at Noida. These involvements have made RIPTAA a household name among the forerunners in the industry and helped pursue the cause of its members. Visit of student groups from RIPT in these fares are also sponsored by RIPTAA to help them understand the latest trend in Printing and allied industry.

Last, but not the least, we are glad to announce that various benevolent activities of RIPTAA have been recognized by Government agencies and any donations made by any organization willing to support the activities of RIPTAA will henceforth attract tax exemption.
RIPTAA brings together alumni, students, and industry professionals to encourage knowledge sharing, professional interaction, and long-term engagement with the printing and graphic technology community.
The Regional Institute of Printing Technology Alumni Association was formed in the year 1986. Since then every student who graduates from this esteemed institution becomes an associate member of the association.
